Police have issued a warning after alcohol was seized from a large group of underage drinkers in Gwynedd.

Officers came across the gathering of more than 15 youths drinking on the beach front in Tywyn at around 9pm last night.

Members of the Gwynedd South said the youngsters were not observing social distancing rules with many of them seen hugging.

The alcohol was confiscated and disposed of and officers also cleaned up the mess which was left behind.

They have now warned people that buying alcohol on behalf of anyone under 18 could lead to a fine, as well as issuing a reminder about social distancing rules.

Posting on Facebook, they asked: “Do you know where your children were last night?

They later continued: “The maximum number of people who can gather outdoors that do not all live together is 4.

“We would also like to remind the public that it is an offence to purchase alcohol on behalf of someone under the age of 18 and also delivering alcohol to a person under 18 or allowing such delivery under sections 149 and 151 of the Licensing act 2003.
“Anyone caught can be issued with a £90 fixed penalty notice.”
