North Wales Police have issued an alert over teenagers trying to use fake £20 notes.

Officers have received reports in the last week of attempts to spend fake notes at businesses in the western area of Conwy.

Businesses owners are being urged to be on their guard for what police described as “very poor copies”.

The force said: “We have had a number of reports of teenagers trying to use obviously fake £20 in the last week.

“Please can we remind anyone accepting money to take time to ensure that any notes are real.

“These appear to be very poor copies so it should be quickly obvious that they are not real.

“Please report any such incidents to us via 101 or the North Wales Police web chat system and if you have CCTV of anyone trying to use such notes then please save it and we will try to collect it from you.”
