Police are investigating after a historic post box was stolen from a wall in Gwynedd.

The mail box, which dates back to the period of King George V, was taken from the wall opposite the entrance to Llyn Cynnwch Fishery, Llanfachreth, Dolgellau.

The offence is believed to have happened at some time between 4.30pm on Wednesday and the same time on Thursday last week.

Officers are now seeking help finding the person responsible.

PCSO Gareth Jones said: “The theft of this historic amenity has upset the whole community.

“Someone has physically removed the stonework and then taken the post box from the wall.”

Anyone with information is asked to call PCSO 3480 Jones at Dolgellau Police Station.
