Police in North Wales have had to turn back visitors from as far afield as Devon and London over the Bank Holiday weekend.

An officer in Llanrwst said people had also been reported for breaching the coronavirus travel ban from the likes of Manchester, Wiltshire, Staffordshire and Wolverhampton.

With some claiming confusion over the difference in legislation between Wales and England and widespread anger over Downing Street senior aide Dominic Cummings apparently setting a far from good example, it appears to have been a busy weekend in the area.

North Wales Police has again issued a reminder of the rules today.

The force said: “Restrictions remain more stringent here in Wales.

“Our tourist attractions, parts of the national park, pubs, restaurants, cafes, caravan, holiday parks and campsites all remain closed.

“When exercising you must stay local.

“Our focus continues to be to reassure, inform and engage with people so they understand why these restrictions are in place.

“Teams continue to be out and about in our communities and on the road networks, and will be once again this bank holiday Monday ensuring the people are complying with the restrictions.”
