“We would like to thank staff at the school for their prompt actions and we can confirm that our enquiries are ongoing.

“This is believed to have been an isolated incident with no ongoing cause for concern”

Police have confirmed they are currently attending an “ongoing incident” at a secondary school in Prestatyn.

Officers have been called to Prestatyn High School this afternoon with concerns raised regarding the incident by members of the public.

However, North Wales Police have sought to reassure people that no evidence of the use of weapons has been found following speculation about the nature of the incident on social media.

The region’s police force said: “We are aware of concerns regarding an ongoing incident at Prestatyn High School this afternoon.

“Officers are in attendance and there are no concerns for the safety of any pupils, teaching staff or the wider public.

“Contrary to social media speculation, there is no evidence to suggest the presence of any weapons.

“We will issue a further update when appropriate.”
