Police appeal to find gun which was fired in incident in Holyhead
Police are appealing to find a gun which was fired during an incident in Holyhead.
The incident took place at around 8.30am on Monday morning on Newry Street in the Anglesey port town.
Video footage shared on Twitter appeared to show two men wrestling over the weapon near to the Empire Cinema before a loud bang is heard.
No injuries were reported and North Wales Police later confirmed three man had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Officers are now asking anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of the weapon to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Gibson said: “I am aware there is footage on social media being circulated of an incident on Monday morning on Newry Street, Holyhead where a firearm is discharged.
“Thankfully no-one was injured and whilst three people were arrested, we are still actively seeking further suspects in relation to this concerning incident. The firearm also remains outstanding.
“I urge anyone in the local area that is aware of the location of the firearm to contact police. If you do not feel confident in speaking to the us directly, then please notify CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
“This type of incident is extremely rare in Anglesey, and it is imperative if anyone knows of any information that will assist in recovering the firearm they come forward.
“Gun crime has devastating effect on all communities. We are reliant on the assistance of the public to come forward and work with us, to ensure we keep the everyone safe.”
