Police and council officers have been carrying out checks to ensure licensed premises on Anglesey are complying with coronavirus restrictions.

With the full reopening of pubs in Wales, joint visits have been conducted to ensure measures are in place to prevent COVID-19 from spreading.

Anglesey’s Chief Public Protection Officer, Les Pursglove, said: “We recognise that this is an uncertain time for businesses in the hospitality sector and we want to support them as much as possible.

“However, they also play a vital role in helping us prevent the spread of coronavirus and keeping Anglesey communities and Wales safe.

“Our joint visits with North Wales Police will continue to ensure that all licenced premises are all strictly following the coronavirus rules and regulations, both as a business and employer.

“Ensuring that social distancing is adhered to and actively implementing Test, Trace and Protect guidance on the premises are just two of the key principles that must be followed.”

Sergeant Russell Fraser of North Wales Police said: “We are committed to making north Wales the safest place in the UK, and as such, work closely with our colleagues at Anglesey Council to ensure that everybody can enjoy the reopening of licensed premises safely.

“We are reminding licensees of their obligation to prevent disorder in their premises, and to comply with the Health Protection Regulations relating to licenced premises.”
