Police alert after gates stolen from farms in North Wales
Police have issued an alert after a number of gates were stolen from farms in North Wales.
North Wales Police’s Rural Crime Team are investigating three separate reports of gate thefts in the Bylchau and Ty Nant areas.
A total of 12 gates have been taken from three farms. They are all described as being made of galvanised steel, large in size and have a lower mesh half.
The incidents are believed to have happened between 8pm on Friday night and 8am Saturday morning and officers are now appealing for information.
The team said: “Did you see a vehicle in the area capable of carrying out these thefts? Do you have any dashcam footage that may be able to help?
“Let us know if you are offered gates for sale and you think the seller may be suspect.
“We are following some lines of enquiry in respect of CCTV cameras in the area, however if you do have CCTV cameras which cover the main roads in the A543/A5 area (The Denbigh Moors/Evo Triangle area) then please let us know.”
They added: “Farm gates are easy prey, but it can be made harder for thieves by inverting the hinges.
“Also consider investing in a metal marking kit. These can be obtained for about £20 to £30 (and it’s) a simple case then of stamping your postcode on to the gate.
“Stamp every gate in the same spot, known only to you so that if they are ever recovered, we can trace you as being the owner.”
If you have any information, you can contact the team via 101 or the webchat facility quoting reference 22000742941
