Pictures have been released showing work to turn a theatre in Llandudno into a coronavirus field hospital being carried out.

Venue Cymru has been requisitioned by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to look after patients with respiratory complaints.

It was recently announced that it would be renamed Ysbyty’r Enfys – the Rainbow Hospital – after the symbol of solidarity with health workers which has been adopted by the nation.

The health board said: “Delighted to see work progressing on Ysbyty Enfys Llandudno – thank you to our colleagues at Conwy County Borough Council and Venue Cymru for their support.”

The field hospital will house 350 patients and has been offered up by Conwy county council to ease the pressures on North Wales’ three main hospitals in Bodelwyddan, Wrexham and Bangor.
