A person has died after falling up to 30 metres from a ridge on Snowdon.

Mountain rescuers were called at around 7.50pm on Saturday to reports an individual had fallen and was unconscious and not breathing on the lower slope of the north ridge of Crib Goch.

A request was made for the coastguard rescue helicopter and the North Wales Police drone unit was made available to help locate the casualty.

The person was later airlifted to hospital by helicopter from the top area of Dinas Mot.

Unfortunately, the casualty was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

A spokesperson for the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased casualty.”
