North Wales Fire and Rescue Service reveals details of recruitment drive for full-time firefighters

A five-day recruitment “window” is set to open for people looking to become full-time firefighters in North Wales.

The opening of the window comes seven months after the previous recruitment drive was “paused” due to a “lack of resources”

Last September, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service apologised for shelving plans to take on more full-time fighters due to, “limited resources and staff time to recruit and train firefighters.”

Chief fire officer Dawn Docx said at the time: “The decision to delay opening the recruitment window for full-time firefighters for a few months was not taken lightly.

Registration for on-line applications will now open at noon on Friday 22 April and close at noon on Tuesday 26 April.

Head of Operations Anthony Jones said: “We currently have an ongoing recruitment drive for on-call (or retained duty system) firefighter positions across our Service, where we encourage those interested in a part-time career to contact us at any time of year – with lots of information on this on our website.”
