A murder investigation has been launched following a man’s death in Colwyn Bay.

It follows a large scale police presence in the area today (Monday, 20 November) following an incident in the early hours of the morning in which a 65-year-old local man died.

North Wales Police were called at 2.15am to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Princes Drive in the town.

Officers attended and following a short search of the area, a 33-year-old man from Colwyn Bay and a 42-year-old man from Widnes were arrested. They remain in custody.

Several lines of enquiry are ongoing into another individual suspected to have been involved.

Det. Chief Inspector Sarah-Jayne Williams said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of Bay View Road, Greenfield Road or Princes Drive, Colwyn Bay around 2am this morning to contact us.

“If any drivers have dashcam footage that could assist us, please get in touch either vis our live webchat online or on 101 quoting reference A183958.

“Whilst we continue to investigate the possible involvement of a female in this isolated incident, I would stress that we have no concerns for the safety of the wider community.

“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area whilst we continue our investigations, and I would like to thank local residents for the assistance they have already afforded us.”

A force spokesperson added: “The family of the victim are being supported by specialist officers and the local Coroner’s Office have been informed.

“We would remind members of the public that this continues to be a live investigation and would encourage that for legal reasons, people do not speculate on social media. However, should you have any information that can help, please contact us directly.”
