Motorcyclist in ‘critical condition’ after crash in Snowdonia

A motorcyclist is in a critical condition following a crash near Nant Gwynant yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, 7th July).

North Wales Police were called shortly before 1.20pm to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle on the A498 between Pen y Gwryd and Beddgelert.

The motorcyclist, who is aged in his 30s, was initially taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, but was later airlifted to hospital in Stoke. His injuries are described as life threatening.

PC Daniel Edwards of the Roads Policing Unit is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “The motorcyclist was travelling towards the direction of Beddgelert and I am urging anybody who may have been travelling along the A498 at around 1pm and who may have dash cam footage to contact us.

“We also know that a few people stopped at the scene, but had left before our arrival, so I am urging all those to please get in touch.”

The investigation is underway and anybody with information that could assist with the ongoing investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit via the website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 21000473941.
