Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after A5 crash

A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A5 in Denbighshire.

Police were called shortly after 11am this morning (Thursday, 17 July) to reports of a two-vehicle collision in Glyndyfrdwy, between Corwen and Llangollen.

The incident involved a silver Toyota Granvia and a red BMW RT motorcycle.

The motorbike rider, a 78-year-old man, was taken via air ambulance to the Royal University Stoke Hospital where he is currently being treated.

The road has been closed as part of a police investigation into the collision.

Sergeant Alun Jones of the North Wales Police Roads Crime Unit is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “We are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have been travelling near this location and who may have dash cam footage, to contact us.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at the Roads Crime Unit, either via the website or by calling 101, quoting reference number Q104866.”
