More than 500 Denbighshire school pupils will be required to self-isolate following confirmed Covid-19 cases.

A total of 22 staff members will also have to stay at home following the announcement by Denbighshire Council.

The total numbers at each school are as follows:

  • A total of 237 pupils and no staff at Rhyl High School will be required to self-isolate until November 30 following a confirmed Covid 19 case associated with the school.
  • At Ysgol Ysgol Dinas Bran, Llangollen, 210 pupils and 1 member of staff will be required to self-isolate until December 1 following a confirmed Covid 19 case associated with the school.
  • Meanwhile 29 pupils and 17 staff at Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn (Park Street – Secondary Site), Denbigh, will be required to self-isolate until December 2 following a confirmed Covid 19 case associated with the school.
  • A total of 53 pupils and 4 staff at Ysgol Borthyn, Ruthin, will be required to self-isolate until December 3 following a confirmed Covid 19 case associated with the school.

All schools remain open and are working closely with Public Health Wales, the local authority and NHS Wales Test, Trace and Protect to ensure that all the appropriate measures are in place to protect students, staff and the wider community.

Parents/guardians have been advised to remain alert for the main symptoms of coronavirus:

  • A new or continuous cough
  • A high temperature
  • A loss of or change to sense of smell or taste

Those advised to self-isolate should book a coronavirus test if they develop any of these symptoms, even if they are mild. A test can be booked by phoning 119 or online.

Advice requires those self-isolating to stay at home, not to go outdoors to exercise, to visit shops, family or friends, or to other public spaces. It also instructs them not to invite people to their house.
