More than 50 drivers were caught speeding on a Gwynedd bypass in poor weather conditions today.

Go Safe Wales, which aims to reduce the number of casualties on the roads, was carrying out enforcement action on the Y Felinheli bypass this morning.

Representatives said despite the bad weather and their presence, 52 motorists were clocked travelling in excess of 67mph in the 60mph zone.

A total of 13 of them were driving at 80mph or higher and the top speed recorded was 93mph.

The recordings have been described as “unacceptable” by North Wales Police’s roads policing unit.
