Man arrested over racist graffiti attack on Penygroes family’s house
A man has been arrested in connection with a racist graffiti attack on the house of a family in Penygroes.
It follows a swastika being spray painted on the garage door of a woman who lives on the village’s High Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police previously released CCTV footage of a man they wanted to speak to in connection with the hate crime incident.
Officers have now a 35-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the offence.
North Wales Police Caernarfon and District team said: “Following our appeal regarding the hate crime in Penygroes, we can confirm that a 35-year-old man has been arrested and our enquiries are currently ongoing.
“Thank you to all who have assisted us so far.”
Members of the local community yesterday rallied to show their support for Margaret Ogunbanwo, who was the victim of the vandalism.
Villagers gathered in their droves to help wash the symbol off her property.
Meanwhile, a pop-up choir also performed this outside Soar Chapel to show their solidarity against racism.
