Investigation launched following incident involving North Wales Police officers near Bangor nightclub

An investigation has been launched following an incident involving officers from North Wales Police near a Bangor nightclub.

The incident is said to have involved a male member of the public and officers and took place near the Cube nightclub on Dean Street, at about 03.10am on Sunday 29 January 2023.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has confirmed it is looking into the matter but has not released any details on the nature of the incident.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident is asked to contact the IOPC ON 03003035726 or by emailing OpMarshgate@policeconduct.gov.uk

North Wales Police has been approached but a spokesperson said the force was unable to comment while the investigation is active.

UPDATE: An IOPC spokesperson told North.Wales:

“We can confirm we have begun an investigation into an incident involving North Wales Police officers and a 17 year old boy outside a nightclub in Bangor. We are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, which took place at around 3.10 am on Sunday 29 January near the Cube nightclub on Dean Street, to contact us. The investigation follows a complaint, referred to the IOPC by the police force, from a family member concerned about how the boy was treated by officers.
