Heartwarming video shows toddler wanting to cuddle her key worker nain
A heart-warming video of a toddler wanting to kiss the coronavirus better so she can cuddle her key worker nain again is charming the internet.
Little Niamh Doyle-Mills is two-and-a-half and her mum took the video as she tried to explain why she couldn’t cuddle her nain Sue Doyle-Williams, who is a mental health nurse for Betsi Cadwaldr University Health Board.
It’s a problem many parents of small children will be facing during the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the video, which is on her nain’s Facebook page, Niamh says she will “kiss the virus as well”.
When her mum Nichole Doyle, a support worker at a mental health and rehabilitation facility in Mold, asks why she came back with her adorable reply.
She said: “I’ll kiss the virus and make people better.”
Miss Doyle, 25, and from Buckley, recently started studying at Bangor University to be a mental health nurse like her mum and explained how Niamh, like most toddlers, believes a simple kiss can make it all better.
She said: “Normally she tells the virus to ‘shoo away’ and blows raspberries at it so she can see her nain and taid.
“I had been explaining why she wasn’t able to see her except through the window and she wanted to kiss the virus better.
“I thought ‘where the hell has that come from’ – but we do always say kisses make it better.
“It was part of explaining to her when mum goes to the window. She loves cuddles and she finds it hard not seeing people.
“But she’s fine and coping well with it really. She’s like a 40-year-old trapped in a little girl’s body sometimes.”
Mrs Doyle-Williams said Niamh was used to seeing her every day until the UK was put on lockdown.
She said: “Niamh can’t understand why she can’t go into people’s houses. How do you tell a two-year-old about something they can’t see?
“But it’s better to teach her what it’s called from the start. She says ‘when the virus goes I can cuddle everyone’.
“She’s just used to kissing things better. Wouldn’t it be lovely if her innocent response was the solution?
“Niamh is two and has found a better solution than our UK Government in solving our despair.”
