A series of flood warnings have been issued for North Wales after heavy downpours overnight resulted in roads being closed.

The A487 at Maentwrog is one of the worst hit routes with two way traffic lights in place due to flooding in the area.

The B5106 Gwydir Road from Llanrwst towards Trefriw has also been closed with police encouraging drivers to use alternative routes.

A total of seven flood warnings have been put in place across the region by Natural Resources of Wales.

The alerts mean that flooding is possible and and people in the area are urged to be prepared. Details as follows:

  • North Gwynedd Catchment – Areas around the rivers of North West Wales, from Abergwyngregyn to Aberdaron
  • Upper Dee Valley from Llanuwchllyn to Llangollen including Corwen – Isolated properties and extensive areas of agricultural land in the Upper Dee flood plain
  • Dyfi Catchment – Areas around the river Dyfi, from Dinas Mawddwy and Llanbrynmair to the estuary, including Machynlleth
  • Dysynni Catchment – Areas around the river Dysynni from Tywyn to Minffordd
