Elderly woman taken to hospital in ‘serious condition’ following fire in Abergele

An elderly woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition following a fire at her home in Abergele.

Firefighters from Abergele and Colwyn Bay were called to a property at Gorwel in the town shortly before 4pm this afternoon.

The woman, who is believed to be in her 70s, was rescued from the house by police officers who happened to be in the area.

She has been transferred to hospital for treatment and the cause of the fire is now under investigation by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.
