Drink driver arrested after getting stuck on sandbank in Barmouth
A drink driver has been arrested after getting stuck on a sandbank in Barmouth.
Officers came across the local man whose vehicle was stuck on Barmouth Prom while patrolling the area on Monday.
They stopped to assist and noticed that the driver had slurred speech and smelt of alcohol.
The man blew 117 on the roadside test and was therefore arrested.
He later blew 107 while in custody in Caernarfon which is just over three times the drink drive limit.
The man was charged for drink driving and is now waiting for a date to appear in court.
North Wales Police said a further drink driving arrest was also made in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The force said in a post on Facebook: “Dolgellau Policing Team were in attendance at another incident on the A496, Llanbedr when a vehicle approached.
“The vehicle was stopped by officers who then suspected the male of being under the influence of alcohol due to open containers within the vehicle.
“The male blew 78 on the roadside and was therefore arrested. He then blew 81 on the intoxilyzer machine in #Caernarfon custody. That is just over two times the drink drive limit.
“The male from the Penrhyndeudraeth area has been charged for drink driving and awaits his day in court.”
