Welsh Ambulance Service reveal HQ expansion plans

The Welsh Ambulance Service has applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department for permission to extend its headquarters at St Asaph.

The ambulance service hopes to extend the building at Ty Elwy on Ffordd Richard Davies on St Asaph Business Park.

The plans include ‘external works, an extension to the current condenser compound and a new generator compound’. The generators would comprise of two pre-packaged back-up generators, not enclosed with a roof, and a glass reinforced plastic kiosk.

The application also includes a thermal heating system that would allow rooms within the HQ building to be simultaneously heated and cooled by redistributing surplus heat.

The extension will be built on grassland surrounding the current HQ building, but there is not thought to be any flood risk associated with the development.

The planning application is currently with Denbighshire’s officers and will be considered by the authority’s planning committee at a future meeting before 22 December 2021.
