Plans for Aldi refrigeration plant at Prestatyn store won’t disturb neighbours, says report
A supermarket chain claims potential noise from a planned refrigeration plant in Prestatyn won’t disturb neighbours.
Aldi Foodstore Ltd have applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department, seeking permission for the plant at their store on Meliden Road, Prestatyn.
The store is served by its current plant in order to heat, cool, and ventilate the shop floor, back of house, and storage areas.
To comply with legislation that comes into effect in 2030, the store is updating the refrigeration plant.
The store is located in what is considered a sensitive area, and consequently, a noise impact assessment is required as part of the planning process.
Several nearby streets have been assessed with noise monitoring, including Ffordd Pendyffryn, Meliden Road, Palmeira Gardens, and Elmsway Drive.
Aldi claims the assessment has proved the noise from the refrigeration plant won’t disturb neighbours.
In a noise assessment planning report included as part of the application, Aldi commented: “Noise from the existing and proposed mechanical plant schemes has been assessed.
“The results of the assessments indicate that noise from the proposed scheme would have a low impact on the nearest noise-sensitive receptors.”
The report added: “Furthermore, the proposals would result in a significant improvement to the amenity of the nearby residents and are therefore considered acceptable.”
