Rhos-on-Sea could soon have two new seaside kiosks.
Conwy County Council has applied to its own planning department, seeking permission to construct the new concessions kiosks on the Cayley Promenade.
The plans are part of the ongoing Colwyn Bay flood defence works and public realm improvements funded by the Welsh Government.
The two new kiosks will be situated either end of the Rhos-on-Sea section of the promenade, each being opposite either end of where the grass embankment starts and finishes.
Both will include disabled toilets and a storeroom, replacing two older kiosks which were removed at an earlier stage of the redevelopment.
Whilst the old kiosks employed one full-time and one part-time employee, the new kiosks will create two full-time jobs and four part-time positions.
The kiosks will feature an overhanging roof, curved eaves, and landscaping.
Other plans included as part of the redevelopment of the Cayley Promenade include new shelters, an embankment footpath, and a substation.
The council says neighbours have been consulted, and the plans will likely be debated at a future planning committee meeting at Conwy’s Bodlondeb HQ.
The council is also improving the sea defences, most of which date back to the turn of the 20th century.
Conwy says the decline in beach levels has left the defences exposed in many areas whilst the number of severe storms is increasing.
