Plans to bulldoze house in Rhos on Sea for apartments set to be refused

Plans to bulldoze a house in Rhos on Sea to make way for a block of 12 self-contained apartments are set to be refused by Conwy County Council.

An outline planning application has been submitted by Mr and Mrs Kelly for the demolition of the existing two-storey dwelling, brick outbuilding, and prefabricated single garage at 34 Church Road.

The proposal for the 0.115-hectare site includes building a four-storey development featuring a lower ground floor bin store at car park level, with four flats on each of the upper floors.

The plans also outline 15 parking spaces in the forecourt, a secure covered cycle store for six bikes, an L-shaped external amenity area, and associated landscaping and drainage.

The modern building design submitted in the application features an angular, hard-edged structure with balconies, finished in a mix of red and orange brick, dark composite cladding, and black window and door features.

The application is recommended for refusal by council officers.

The planning committee will debate the matter at the authority’s Coed Pella HQ on Wednesday, October 14.
