Landmark Building in Penmaenmawr to Be Converted into Affordable Homes

A landmark building in Penmaenmawr could be converted into 20 affordable homes if planning permission is agreed.
Applicants Mode Ltd and North Wales Housing have applied to Conwy County Council’s planning department, seeking permission to convert the Brookes Tarpaulins building on Bangor Road.
The planning application has now been registered with Conwy.
If the plans get the go ahead, the building will be converted to house 20 affordable homes.
The site will also be extended and will include parking and landscaping.
The building was once used as a chapel and more latterly as the Brookes Tarpaulin factory.
As part of the submission, a report said there was no evidence of bats or protected species of birds roosting in the building.
A planning report on the site read: “No evidence of bats or nesting birds was found during the inspection of the building, and no bats were seen to emerge from it during the emergence survey.
“The building has been assessed as having low potential for roosting bats due to the roosting paucity of potential roosting features on its exterior and limited fly-through access.”
The plans will likely be discussed at a future planning committee meting at Conwy County Council’s Bodlondeb HQ.
