Conwy Valley Outbuilding to be Converted into Holiday Accommodation

North Wales news and information

A Conwy Valley outbuilding could soon be converted into holiday accommodation.
Lucy Weis has applied to Conwy County Council’s planning department, seeking permission to convert an outbuilding at Esgair Ebrill at Ffordd Dyffryn in Eglwysbach.
The building’s use is currently described as redundant.
The site lies to the south-eastern edge of Eglwysbach and is accessible by a private driveway, which also serves two other holiday lets also owned by the applicant, as well as the family home.
If granted permission, the holiday let will be a one-bedroom single storey building and will include a decking area, ensuite, an open-plan lounge, and a dining/kitchen area.
A planning statement reads: “All in all, the proposal is a simple but effective design approach that utilises the redundant building for a suitable economic use and retains the features of merit and the character of the (original) building.
“This type of proposal has significant potential to offer the benefits of tourism development for the local population without the disadvantages of other forms of self-catered tourist accommodation, like the use of local housing stock (such as Airbnb).”
The plans include parking provision and will likely be debated at a future Conwy County Council planning committee meeting at Bodlondeb.
