The coastguard has urged people to be careful when visiting a popular North Wales beauty spot.

It follows a warning that the cliffs at Porth Neigwl, also known as Hell’s Mouth, on the Llŷn Peninsula are in danger of collapsing.

The Abersoch Coastguard Rescue Team said contrasting weather had contributed to their deterioration.

It said: “After the long wet winter and longer dry spring the cliffs on Porth Neigwl are showing signs of imminent collapse.

“Please be extremely cautious walking under or along these and all cliffs around our coastline.

“There are large overhangs and little support in many areas so keep well away from the edge. Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast overnight so this will add to the danger.

“Cadwch yn saff pawb / Stay safe everyone.”
