Climber dies after falling 60 metres from cliff in Snowdonia
A climber has died after falling 60 metres from a cliff in Snowdonia, mountain rescuers have sadly confirmed.
Reports were received at about midday yesterday (Sunday) of a climber falling from Dolmen Ridge on Glyder Fach.
The coastguard helicopter was initially called but couldn’t access the site and lifted rescuers up to Bochlwyd instead.
When they arrived on the scene, they unfortunately discovered that the climber had not survived the fall.
The casualty’s partner was helped by two other climbers, who witnessed the fall and attempted first aid.
Members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation said the incident was possibly caused by a rockfall.
The Neighbouring Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team also assisted in moving the climber who died off the mountain.
The Ogwen Valley team said: “All team members were finally off the hill by 2200hrs and we would like to thank both assisting climbers for all their help to the casualty’s climbing partner.
