A car thief who was found hiding from police in a cupboard has been jailed for 20 weeks.

Sion David Glyn Morgan has been sentenced today following an incident over the weekend where a car was stolen from Caernarfon, and later recovered by officers in Llangollen.

Following a public appeal for information regarding his location, police in Gwynedd visited an address where they located the 20-year-old hiding in a cupboard.

Appearing from custody before Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court, Morgan, of Garth Road, Bangor,  was found guilty of aggravated vehicle taking, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, and making off without payment.

Gwynedd North Support Sergeant Arwel Hughes said: “I would like to offer my thanks to the public for their response in helping us apprehend Sion Morgan.

“We are committed to ensuring those who commit crimes that cause misery in our local community face justice.

“This has been evidenced with the sentence handed down today, and we will continue to strive towards making north Wales the safest place in the UK.”
