Campaign launched to bring Aldi store to town on Anglesey

A campaign has been launched to bring an Aldi store to a town on Anglesey.

Around 150 people have already backed calls for the budget supermarket chain to create a store in Amlwch.

Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie is also backing the campaign after attending an event just before Easter at the Blueberries Café in the town.

A total of 60 residents were present, including local resident Mandy Jones, who contacted the MP about the idea.

The Conservative politician is now calling on others to back the calls.

She said: “Local people really want to see Aldi come to Amlwch and I have been in touch with the supermarket but we need to show there is widespread support for it so please get in touch and sign up.

“Competition and supermarket choice is good for our island and I think Amlwch would benefit from another store.

“I know the local people I met at Blueberries Café certainly thought so and I will do all I can to make the case to Aldi.”
