Planners have approved a bid to knock down a former village pub to build 14 new homes.
Y Bedol in Penysarn, near Amlwch, shut its doors for the last time in 2010 before being picked up by developers in 2015.
Meeting in Llangefni on Wednesday and after a site visit before Christmas, members approved the plans which will see  four, two-bedroom homes and 10, three-bedroom terraced houses built on the site.
Having submitted an initial application in 2017, full permission was granted on the recommendation of planning officers who found the plans to be acceptable.
This was contrary to the views of some locals, however, with Llaneilian Community Council  and Cllr Aled Morris Jones raising concerns over the village sewerage system, access and road safety,  and questioning the need for the homes – describing the plans as overdevelopment.

But Rhys Davies, on behalf of Cadnant Planning, told members that two of the homes would be designated as affordable with the remainder to be made available via help to buy Wales.
The Design and Access Statement, accompanying the application, noted: “There have been genuine attempts to market the property as a commercial building, only a small number of offers were made during the sale process, none of which were for continued use as a public house.
“In view of the above, the loss of a community facility is regrettable, however, the facility failed to operate commercially as a financially viable business.
“The proposal would provide two affordable dwellings, which would help to meet the identified housing need within the area, helping to address the deficit within the area.”
