Warning after reports of car doors tried in Prestatyn

A police warning has been issued after reports of car doors being tried in Prestatyn.

NWP Denbighshire Coastal and Abergele said it has received reports of an individual attempting to gain access to vehicles by trying door handles in the Llandaff Drive, Monmouth Grove and Beverley Drive areas.

The force said increased patrols are taking place in the area and officers are conducting enquiries.

Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and to consider following the below security advice:

• Always lock your vehicle, even if you’re only leaving it for a short time
• Double check your windows and doors are locked before walking away
• Remove valuables, cash, bags, and other items of value to you from your vehicle
• Keep keys secure and away from windows and doors at home
• Where possible, park your vehicle in a well-lit area or somewhere visible to your home or neighbouring properties

A force spokesperson added: “If you have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage that may be relevant, please contact police as this may assist our enquiries.

“If you see anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles or properties, please report it to police.

“If a crime is in progress or there is an immediate threat, call 999. For non-emergency matters, please report via 101 or report online.”
