Rhyl opticians raises almost £1,000 for children and families across North Wales
A Rhyl opticians has donated almost £1,000 to local children and families through a month-long fundraising initiative.
Organised by Specsavers Rhyl, the in-store fundraiser saw the store donate £1 for every pair of glasses sold throughout a one month period, with customers able to choose whether their donation supported North Wales Superkids or The Little Princess Trust.
In total £409 was donated to North Wales Superkids, which helps disadvantaged children across the region, and £322 to The Little Princess Trust to help provide real hair wigs for young people experiencing hair loss.
Andrew Kennedy, optician director at Specsavers Rhyl said: “As a locally owned and run business, supporting our community and the organisations that help local families is really important to us.
“We’re delighted with the amount raised and really grateful to everyone who supported our chosen causes. We’re already looking ahead to our next fundraiser and hoping we can do just as well.”

Specsavers Rhyl team member, Peter Kemp, and colleagues cycled to raise money for two local charities.
Funds for The Little Princess Trust were boosted by colleague, Paul Jones, who cut and donated 14-inches of his hair to the charity, resulting in £255 being added to the fundraising total.
Mr Jones said: “I’d like to thank everyone who donated to our fundraiser. It’s fantastic to see how much we’ve been able to raise together for such an important cause.’
Wendy Tarplee-Morris, founder of The Little Princess Trust, added: ‘We are so grateful to all the team and customers at Specsavers Rhyl.
‘It’s also wonderful to hear of Paul’s fantastic hair donation and fundraising. This combined support will be a huge help to us as we continue to provide the very best wigs for children with hair loss.’
Other members of the Rhyl team contributed to the fundraiser through an in-store sponsored bike ride, which saw them cycle 187 kilometres.
