Police are seeking to identify a group of four youths seen acting suspiciously on the night of a suspected arson incident.

Firefighters were called to a blaze at Tryfan Hall, Rhostryfan, Gwynedd at about 6.30pm on Tuesday evening.

Two fire engines attended the scene and the blaze was later extinguished.

Significant fire and smoke damage was caused to the property, with the fire service confirming that four separate fires appeared to have been lit inside.

North Wales Police said arson is suspected as there was no other reason for the building to be on fire.

Local residents saw four suspicious youths in the immediate area of Tryfan Hall at approximately 5.20pm on the same evening, all of them reportedly wearing black or dark sportswear clothing and dark jackets and tops.

Police are eager to identify the youths – thought to be local to the area – in order to establish if they have any information that will assist their investigation.

North Wales Police said:  “Do you know of someone who returned home last night with the strong smell of smoke lingering on their clothing?

“If you have any information as to the identity of the youths confirmed to be in the area prior to the arson, or have CCTV footage or dashcam video footage that might assist the police investigation, please contact North Wales Police via LiveChat or 101, quoting the reference number: B036129. Thank you.”
