A driver led police in North Wales on an 18-mile chase down the A55 before being stopped by a stinger.

Officers from the North Wales Police intercept and roads policing teams were involved in the pursuit this morning after a man failed to stop.

He was eventually brought to a halt on a stretch of the dual carriageway near junction 11 at Llandygai after officers used a stinger to burst his tyre.

The man was arrested and later taken into custody.

Posting on Facebook, the NWP Intercept Team said: “Did you see us on the A55 this morning?

“A driver decided he didn’t want to stop and speak with our officers, resulting in an 18 mile pursuit along the A55.

“It was brought to a safe conclusion with help from our friends from NWP Roads Policing Unit who stung the tyres of the vehicle.

“One person now in custody with some questions to answer.”
