Police have hit out at a group of youths for carrying out a “disgusting act” at a quarry in Denbighshire.

It comes after a hedgehog was killed and painted red with industrial paint at Stoddard Quarry in Llanarmon yn Ial.

Officers believe the offence took place in the last few days and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

They said: “At Stoddard Quarry, Llanarmon yn Ial, a disgusting act has taken place sometime over the last few days.

“Trespassing youths have killed a hedgehog and painted it red.

“The paint was ‘industrial’ and will be hard to remove off hands and clothes. Help us find who did this.”

They have also released a pretty grim image of the act which can be seen below.
