Police teams deployed a stinger device to catch a disqualified driver in Bangor over the weekend.

The driver, who is also wanted by the courts, was said to be unenthusiastic about speaking to officers when spotted on Friday night.

However, members of the North Wales Police Intercept Team used their training to slow him down, leaving him with little choice.

The man was taken into custody in relation to five offences and will appear in court at a later date.

Police said: “The driver of this car doesn’t normally like to hang around and speak to the police… but last night he had no choice.

“Things we knew…the driver is disqualified from holding a licence and the driver was wanted by the courts.

“Up step the interceptors to utilise their training.

“The vehicle was stung by one of our team leaving him and the tyres feeling deflated and meaning he had to speak to our officers in Bangor. Tactics used to protect other road users and prevent a pursuit.”
