North Wales Police have issued a warning over a scam involving a broken wing mirror.

It follows an incident in Pensarn, Conwy county, yesterday which is said to have involved a man in a silver Range Rover.

Officers said the “old scam” usually starts with the victim driving along and hearing a bang on the passenger side of their vehicle.

A car will then follow behind, get them to pull over and claim that the victim has struck their driver’s door mirror before demanding cash for repairs.

However, police have advised that not all is what it seems.

They said: “What actually happens is that the scammer is parked at the roadside and will deliberately strike the victims car as it passes.

“The damaged mirror is fake and wasn’t caused by the victim.

“Yesterday’s incident involved a male driver with a female passenger in a silver coloured Range Rover.

“If you have any information ring 101 and quote our ref B078072.”
