Man suffers serious injuries after hit and run incident in Prestatyn
A man has been seriously injured following a collision in Prestatyn yesterday evening.
At 6.17pm police were informed of a collision on Bodnant Avenue at the junction with Nant Hall Road whereby a pedestrian was struck by a small dark coloured car, possibly a Vauxhall Corsa.
The car had travelled westbound from Gronant Road along Nant Hall Road and had turned right onto Bodnant Avenue.
The driver of the car initially stopped, pulled the casualty to one side and then left the scene.
The pedestrian, who is in his 60’s, was taken by ambulance to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he remains with serious, but not life threatening injuries.
Specials Inspector Jim Morris of the Road Safety Unit is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
He said: “We urgently need to trace the driver and I would urge them to come forward now and for anyone who knows who may be responsible, or has any information regarding the whereabouts of the car to contact us.
“Thankfully the pedestrian’s injuries are not life threatening however this could have been a very different story.
“The driver of the car obviously knew they had struck the pedestrian and even went to the effort of moving him to one side, but still left the scene with no thought for his welfare.”
Anybody with information is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 or via the live web chat quoting reference number 20000748740.
