A man had to be rescued from the roof of his car after getting stuck in flood water near Bangor.

Rescue teams were called just after 6pm yesterday evening during Storm Christoph to reports a man had tried to drive through the river ford along the road from Llandygai to Bangor.

He became stuck in deep water and had climbed onto the roof of his car.

The water rescue team from North Wales Fire Service arrived first and, supported by the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team, sent out a rescue sled to bring the man safely back to dry land.

The man was said to be cold but otherwise uninjured and was checked over by the rescuers.
