A 56-year-old man has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for online grooming offences.

Hugh Stanley Holt, from the Blackpool area, appeared at Preston Crown Court today, charged with attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. He also received notification requirements for life.

Holt was arrested on suspicion of committing online offences whilst living in the Llanberis area of Gwynedd in January 2022.

Detective Constable Dominique Swift said: “We are pleased with the sentencing today which demonstrates that online offences are real and do have the same consequences as other physical offences.

“We are dedicated to keeping the communities of North Wales safe, be that online or offline, and continue to investigate any reports of indecent behaviour.”
