Man jailed for online grooming offences carried out whilst living in North Wales

A 56-year-old man has been sentenced to three years imprisonment for online grooming offences. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

Hugh Stanley Holt, from the Blackpool area, appeared at Preston Crown Court today, charged with attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. He also received notification requirements for life. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

Holt was arrested on suspicion of committing online offences whilst living in the Llanberis area of Gwynedd in January 2022. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

Detective Constable Dominique Swift said: “We are pleased with the sentencing today which demonstrates that online offences are real and do have the same consequences as other physical offences. ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​

“We are dedicated to keeping the communities of North Wales safe, be that online or offline, and continue to investigate any reports of indecent behaviour.” ‌​‌‌​​​‌‍‌​‌​‌​​​
