Man dies following a fire at a Kinmel Bay property

An elderly man has died following a flat fire in Kinmel Bay.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to a report of a property fire at Plas Foryd, Kinmel Bay at 13.55 hours today.

Two fire appliances, from Rhyl and Colwyn Bay, were dispatched to the incident. Crews arrived to find fire damage to the property and the body of an elderly man, believed to be in his 80s, was found inside the apartment by firefighters.

Kevin Jones, Head of Community Safety at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Our deepest sympathies are with the family at this difficult time.

“The cause of the fire will be the subject of a joint investigation between North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and North Wales Police.”
