‘Lucky escape’ for driver and passengers after car flips on side in Gwynedd

A driver and his passengers had a lucky escape after his car flipped on its side in Gwynedd overnight.

All four fled the scene of the single vehicle collision on the B4547 Nant y Garth, Felinheli.

However, they were quickly found hiding in a nearby field with the assistance of the police air support helicopter, dog unit and local officer.

The male driver was arrested by the roads policing department following a positive drugs and alcohol test.

Officers said: “The lowest alcohol reading was 93 micrograms. He also tested positive for cocaine. He will be interviewed later on today when he sobers up.”
