Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza cancelled for second year running due to coronavirus pandemic
Llandudno’s Victorian Extravaganza has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The annual event to celebrate the town’s Victorian heritage usually takes place over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, attracting large crowds.
Although it was called off last year, organisers had raised hopes that this year’s event would be able to go ahead.
However the committee responsible for running it has confirmed it will not be possible in light of the ongoing crisis.
The decision also affects the Llandudno Transport Festival which is held alongside it.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the committee said: “We know this will come as a relief to some people and a great disappointment to others but everyone has done their best to follow government guidelines and because of the sacrifices made we should all do our best to allow the things to be as safe as possible before proceeding with events such as the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza.
“When the time is right we will be ready to welcome everyone back to our wonderful town and an event that has been established for over 30 years.
“Thank you for your understanding and support, we look forward to seeing you all again soon.”
