Historic Flintshire Coachhouse Pub to Offer Short Stays with Renovations Approved
An 18th century Flintshire coachhouse pub will soon be offering short stays after plans were approved.
The Owain Glyndŵr Inn in Gwernymynydd has been granted permission by Flintshire County Council’s planning department to renovate the landlord accommodation on the first floor to create two short-stay apartments.
It has also been given the go-ahead to build a ground-floor extension to create a games room, two parking spaces for guests and a beer garden with picnic tables.
Work on the changes had already begun but was put on hold while a decision was made on the planning application.
The pub – which enjoys expansive views across the Dee Valley and the Clwydian Range – has been taken over by a previous tenant landlord, Justin Gaunt, who is planning the improvements to breathe new life into the site.
Each of the two one-bedroom units above the pub will be self-contained, with a living area, open-plan kitchenette, bedroom and en-suite bathroom.
The beer garden will be created on land which currently belongs to the neighbouring Rhianfa property – which is also owned by Mr Gaunt.
It will provide the inn with an outdoor area looking our over the valley – something it doesn’t currently offer.
