A “dangerous” child sex offender from Llandudno has been jailed for grooming a teenage girl.

Bradley Stephen Thomas Knowles, of Blaen Cwm, was today sentenced to four years and eight months in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child, and possession of indecent images.

Knowles groomed the 15-year-old via the internet, who he later met and engaged in sexual activity with at a caravan in a rural location not far from her home.

The 24-year-old defendant appeared by live link from HMP Berwyn in Wreham at a hearing at Mold Crown Court.

In a personal impact statement to the court, the child’s father said: “The day I found him (Knowles) in the caravan was the worst day of my life so far” and went onto to say he felt he had failed as a father, as he hadn’t protected her enough.

Despite early guilty pleas, the Right Honourable Judge Timothy Petts described Knowles as a “dangerous offender”, making him undertake an additional four years on license.

He will also be forced to remain on the sex offenders register for life, and has been given an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim, as well as a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.

Detective Inspector Elfyn Hughes said: “This was a sickening case, in which evidence relating to Knowles’ relationship with the child was discovered on devices seized from him.

“We will continue to bring perpetrators of sexual offences before the Courts, and use every methods of investigation, whether physical or digital, to secure convictions.”
