Snowdonia camping pods approved
Plans for two camping pods in the Snowdonia National Park have been approved by planners.
Meeting on Wednesday, the Snowdonia National Park authority backed the plans at Ty’n Rhedyn Isaf, Llanfairfechan after officers were persuaded that the development would not cause an undue visual impact.
Initially recommended for refusal, the original plans, submitted by Huw and Sioned Jones, had been amended to provide further landscaping which was found to be acceptable.
The site, which lies just outside the designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, was designated for two self-contained holiday pods, measuring 3.9m by 6m with an overall height of 2.5m.
Letters of support for the application cited benefits including boosting the local economy and a growing local demand for this type of development.
The recommendation, which was followed by members meeting in Maentwrog, noted: “The pods are not overly large structures, despite
having these facilities within them.
“I am also satisfied that the level of landscape impact from these additional facilities and the septic tank, would be reasonable low and would not unduly add to the permanence of the site.”
According to the applicants, the pods would provide “a much needed supplement to the farm’s income” while having “no negative impact on the farm or surrounding area.”
