Coastguard teams battle Storm Ellen to rescue man who fell from abandoned Anglesey brickworks
Coastguard teams battled stormy conditions to winch a man to safety after he fell from an abandoned brickworks onto a rocky beach.
Lifesavers on Anglesey launched a dramatic rescue operation after they were called to reports of a man with a suspected broken arm, along with hip and head injuries, near Porth Wen Brickworks, Llanbadrig.
Both the Cemaes Bay and Moelfre Coastguard attended during the height of Storm Ellen.
On arrival, they faced a difficult descent in high winds and rain, before discovering the man had fallen from the kiln area onto the beach.

Given the challenging conditions, they made the decision to call the rescue helicopter via the Holyhead control room.
Team members said: “Initial casualty care was undertaken by the Coastguard teams. Upon arrival Rescue 936 winched down a medic who stabilised the casualty.
“With a high incoming tide the beach area was rapidly diminishing, making casualty evacuation a priority.
“The casualty was packaged for winch recover and a high line taken by the Rescue 936 medic back to members of HM Coastguard Cemaes Bay and Moelfre to stabilise the ascent in the extreme weather conditions.”
The man was airlifted to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd for treatment with both teams returning to their stations at 2.15am this morning.
Members have wished the man a speedy recovery.
